Man Utd's Ronaldo ducks Real Madrid questions

Cristiano Ronaldo has avoided discussing his future after confirming he will undergo ankle surgery this summer.

The Manchester United star, still the subject of intense speculation linking him with Real Madrid, confirmed he needs an operation after Portugal's elimination from Euro 2008.

It was later announced a decision on the surgery would be delayed until after the player returned from holiday.

Portuguese newspaper A Bolo has now reported Ronaldo is back in his homeland after a break in Italy and has met with doctors from the national team and United to set a date in the next few days.

The 23-year-old, however, once again declined to make a definitive statement on his future.

"I can only say that (I) will spend the period of my recovery in my house in Sintra, but regarding my future I cannot say anything," Ronaldo said.
