Man Utd's Lingard pleased with England U21 form

Jesse Lingard hopes for an England U21 start against San Marino last this week.

The Manchester United forward, currently on loan with Birmingham City, made an important contribution to the win over Finland by providing the pass for Saido Berahino's killer third goal.

Speaking to TheFA.com, Lingard said: "We're at the top of the table now, so hopefully in the next game we can get another three points and go clear.

"We can relax a bit then and look forward to the games next year.

"I was happy with that assist on Thursday, but I just wanted to play and get on the ball as much as I could to show what I can do."
