Owen Hargreaves admits injury problems have thwarted his first season at Manchester United.

What a way to finish, though, as he was sent out in an unfamiliar wing role yet performed superbly and scored from his own penalty in the Champions League shootout.

He said: "I think now people can see the difference in me physically and what I'm able to do.

"Don't get me wrong, I'm a professional and I want to play. But I just wasn't physically capable of doing so early on.

"The boss was just waiting for the right time. They put me in the right games and now I feel good. My knees have improved a lot.

"Those are the expectations at a club like this. That's why I came here. I wanted to be part of something special."
