Man Utd's Giggs: This one more enjoyable than '99

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has declared that he found this Champions League win easier to enjoy than the 1999 triumph.

Giggs was a late substitute and played little part in proceedings, but he did break Sir Bobby Charlton's all-time appearance record for the club and score a very cool penalty in the shootout.ITV 1.

"I can enjoy it a little bit more," revealed Giggs. "In '99, you think it will come around again. Tonight is brilliant, we deserve it.

"We both had chances, no one put them away. Credit to Edwin, he came good in the end!

"I think we dominated in the first half; second half they had their chances. We held our nerve in the end and you just remember these nights - the best nights of your life."

Questioned on the fate of winning the Champions League 50 years after the Munich air disaster, Giggs was proud to do the fallen legends proud, having lost the Manchester City derby.

"Well you look back to the (Manchester) City game and we were all disappointed. Hopefully, this has made up for it - I'm sure it has."

On Ronaldo, he added: "He scored a goal, he deserved it. He's been the best player in Europe."
