Man Utd's Giggs collects OBE

Ryan Giggs picked up his OBE from the Queen on Tuesday.

Giggs, 34, received the award for services to sport over a distinguished career.

After picking up the award at Buckingham Palace, the Manchester United star said: "It is a very proud day for me and my family.

"I'm lucky to play for such a great club for such a long time and have a successful career."

And he was given a few words of advice from his boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who gave him the day off to pick up the award while his team mates prepared for a European Championship match.

Giggs added: "I tried to keep it quiet from the players. They will know a bit more about it tomorrow."

During his brief chat with the Queen, she remarked that it was a very busy time for the footballer.
