Man Utd's Foster backing Tottenham keeper Robinson

Crocked Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has jumped to the defence of Tottenham No1 Paul Robinson over his England status.

Speaking at the launch of Sells Goalkeeper Products, Foster said: "It is just a case of confidence at the moment.

"If people got off Paul's back a little bit it would help everyone.

"You do not play 50-odd games for your country and play in the Premier League, week in, week out, without being a quality player.

"Mistakes are highlighted when you are a goalkeeper, especially if you are England's number one.

"Any little thing will be criticised. It is something that comes with the job and it is how you deal with it.

"But there are a lot of goalkeepers who would like to be in Paul's position of being England number one."
