Man Utd's Ferguson: Scholes played his way into Moscow team!

Paul Scholes magnificent effort after 14 minutes was enough for United boss Sir Alex Ferguson to triumph for only the second time in five Champions League semi-finals.

It was an elated United chief who spoke to ITV1 immediately after the final whistle.

"This club deserves to be in the final and for our supporters it was fantastic."

Ferguson reserved special praise for the goalscorer and the fans who had been encouraged before the game to play their part in creating an atmosphere worthy of a Champions League semi-final.

"It was fitting that a player who had come through the ranks at this club should prove so crucial. I'm so pleased for everyone."

Asked if Scholes would be in the team for the final in Moscow the Scot simply replied, "absolutely!"

Ferguson added, "Barcelona had to throw men forward at the end but the fans drove us over the line. Well done!"
