Man Utd's Ferdinand wants World Cup winner's medal

After winning the Champions League, Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand admits he now is eyeing a World Cup winner's medal.

He said: "There would be a big hole in my career if I was not successful at international level. Playing for England you want to be part of a squad which adds another star (victory in a major tournament) to the shirt. We have only won the World Cup once.

"We have a great history in football, and only to be winners once is a massive under-achievement. But we have a manager now with great experience, who has won a lot at club level and has as much desire as anyone to transfer that into international football.

"If England won something, the euphoria would eclipse anything I have experienced."
