"To say the Moscow result is a massive disappointment is an understatement - it's devastating," said Ferdinand. "Football can be a very cruel game and we're suffering for it.
"We have certainly paid the price for poor defending. We had a kamikaze four-minute spell, we got punished for it and paid the price. We have gone from a position of enormous strength to a position of weakness.
"I hate losing, I dwell on it for days and I'm not a good person to be around.
"To be honest, I can't even contemplate watching the Finals without England in it.
"It's too early to even think about how I or the other players would cope with failing to qualify. I'm not in the right state of mind to be able to answer that."
