Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is convinced his best years are in front of him as he prepares to turn 30 next month.

"The next few years can be the most fruitful," said Ferdinand. "I am starting to see that now and I want to get that in the next two or three years of my career.

"The last couple of years have probably been the best I have played in terms of consistency so I just want to maintain that.

"I want to keep going in the same direction and, hopefully, it will lead to success for club and country."
