Rio Ferdinand has failed to recover from injury and is ruled out of England's World Cup qualifier against Andorra on Wednesday. The Manchester United defender has been troubled by a calf problem for the past few weeks and did not travel to Kazakhstan for Saturday's match.

The Football Association has now confirmed the 30-year-old will again miss out, giving him more time to recover for the new season.
