Man Utd's Carrick shakes off England disappointment

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has shaken off his England setback.

Carrick said: "It's just one of those things - I ain't going to sit at home and get depressed about it.

"I can't get upset about it. I just have to get on with the job.

"I'd love to get into the England squad, but these matches in Europe are as big as they come, so there's no point in me getting down-hearted.

"This is definitely the best I've played for United. All through your career, you keep improving, and since I've been here, I feel I'm getting better and better.

"I had a good season last season and this one has gone just as well. I'm really enjoying myself.

"There have been games when I've not been playing throughout the season. We've all seen that the boss has changed things around from time to time, when he has been trying to mix and match and find out what works, but I'm happy with the way things have gone and I've tried to keep involved as much as I can.

"We've done well so far in Europe and our record this season is as good as the best so we feel we have a big chance. There's a massive desire in the squad to get to the final in Moscow and win it, and with players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez, why not?"
