Manchester United ace Dimitar Berbatov insists he didn't quit Tottenham for money.
Berbatov, 27, said: "It's always better to leave a football club on a good note. But I knew, at my age, I wanted to be playing Champions League football.
"It was right for me to move to Manchester United but I will look back on my time at Spurs with fond memories. I had some great times and will always remember my two seasons with them.
"But it was time to move on and I just hope the Spurs fans can understand that. I had a good time at the club and enjoyed my football. I moved to United because I knew Old Trafford was a place where I could hopefully win lots more medals."
So far, Berbatov's move looks justified as United are third in the Premier League and through to the last 16 of the Champions League.
He added: "I want to be part of a United team that keeps winning all of the biggest prizes.
"I want to win the Premier League and Champions League - and not only once."
