Manchester United fullback Phil Bardsley is turning down a permanent deal at Sheffield United.
The Mirror says Bardsley has been on loan with the Blades and both clubs have agreed a £1.5m fee.
But he is keen to go to Sunderland and said: "In my eyes it's still a mile away. The clubs might have agreed something but I haven't. No one has said anything to me so we'll just have to wait and see. I want to keep doing well for Sheffield United.
"You've got to consider your options. It's a big move, so we'll wait and see."
