Man Utd youngster Pogba targeting first team

Paul Pogba feels he is getting closer to the Manchester United first team whilst revealing manager Sir Alex Ferguson did not want him to go out on loan.

The 18-year old French midfielder has big wraps on him at Old Trafford and says he is prepared to work as hard as possible to see that potential come through and give him game time in the seniors.

"A possible loan to a Championship club was discussed early in the season, but Sir Alex said he did not want me to leave," Pogba told the French Football Federation's official website.

"That makes me want to prove he was right in trusting me. I am proud of what I'm doing. I'm getting closer to the first team and I hope to progress further this season."

And after making his United debut in the Carling Cup against Leeds United last month, Pogba is ready for more action.

"I was nervous but so happy to be among players like Carrick, Berbatov and Owen," he added.

"It was a nice taste of the first team and made me want even more."
