Manchester United striker Federico Macheda has confirmed he wants a loan spell away from Old Trafford this winter.

The talented Italian is finding it hard to break into Sir Alex Ferguson's first team and hopes the Scotsman sends him out in January, preferably to a Premier League club, as last season's spell with Sampdoria did not pan out as he would have liked.

"Now I do not feel right to return to Italy because my time at Samp went very badly," Macheda told

"Even at the level of adaptation was very hard.

"Then the team was not right, so it is hard to think of returning to Italy in January, instead to remain in England to play a little more here."
