Calls for a director of football at Manchester United will be given short shrift.

United's dismal summer market is being blamed on a lack of director of football to support manager David Moyes.

The Daily Mail says United are understood to be hugely reluctant to appoint a director of football, believing in the traditional role of the manager, with officials wanting to allow David Moyes the same kind of all-encompassing power enjoyed by Sir Alex Ferguson.
