Manchester United winger Nani is delighted with his return to Sporting CP.
Nani has returned to Sporting on a season-long deal as part of Marcos Rojo's move to Manchester United.
"I deeply respect clubs like Benfica and FC Porto, but it is logical when this possibility was raised I thought about Sporting, because it was where I grew up, where I had the first opportunity to play as a professional," he said.
"I want to be a good example for other players who think about returning to their old clubs.
"I also hope to be an asset to my teammates and can convey confidence and a bit of accumulated wisdom from several years abroad."
Nani added: "At a time like this in my career, it's always good to be home. It was a great joy to be received as I was at the airport. It is a moment I will never forget."
