Wayne Rooney can leave Manchester United if they qualify for the Champions League.
The Daily Star says United are open to selling their star striker in the summer IF they secure a top four spot this season.
But if they fail, Rooney will not be allowed to leave United allowing him to run down his £250,000-a-week deal and leave for nothing in 2015.
United have yet to open talks about a new deal and Chelsea are expected to make a fresh bid for him in the summer.
If they fall short under-fire boss David Moyes wants Rooney to stay at Old Trafford to get United back into European football's biggest competition the following season.
Senior United sources have confirmed that all bids for the 28-year-old would then be rejected.
