Manchester United are prepared to cash in on David De Gea should he fail to impress this season. The Sunday Mirror says De Gea must convince Sir Alex Ferguson not to make a big-money bid for Stoke's Asmir Begovic, who is also being watched by Arsenal and Liverpool.

The 22-year-old's form has been worryingly inconsistent and it has been claimed in Spain that De Gea would relish a move back home with Real Madrid reportedly interested.

Ferguson considered moving for Begovic before he signed De Gea and the 25-year-old Bosnia keeper has been in sensational form this season.
