Man Utd will only accept top four for one season - West Brom's Fletcher

West Bromwich Albion captain Darren Fletcher believes Manchester United fans will expect a much better showing from the team next season.

The former Red Devils midfielder led the Baggies to a 1-0 win at Old Trafford which kept United fourth on the table, just four points clear of fifth-placed Liverpool.

Fletcher is well aware of the expectations at United after spending two decades at the club and believes that the clubs loyal supporters will not stand for anything less than competing for the title.

"They have to up it a level," the Albion captain said. "The aim for United this season was top four.

"I hate even saying accepting top four (is okay) but the fans and everyone will maybe accept it for one season.

"But they need to be challenging for the league after that. Any United side talking about accepting the top four is just not good enough."
