Manchester United will go after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer no matter who is in charge.
According to The Independent, United will launch a £60million bid for the Gabonese striker who has been banging in the goals for Borussia Dortmund this season.
The Red Devils have already been heavily linked with Aubameyang but fresh reports indicate that their pursuit will not depend on whether or not Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho or somebody else is manager.
Van Gaal's future at Old Trafford continues to be clouded and many news outlets are suggesting that Mourinho will almost certainly replace him in the summer.
Regardless of this occurring or not, United will make a play for Aubameyang who they see as being a clever commercial addition as well as being a top quality player.
The 2015 African Player of the Year, 26, has scored 31 goals in 33 outings for Dortmund this season and has an ever-increasing presence in both Africa and Europe which United believe could be an enormous drawcard.
