Man Utd will fail at St Etienne as Mourinho will have one eye on EFL Cup final - Nicholas

Former Arsenal striker Charlie Nicholas is backing Ligue 1 side St Etienne to cause an upset against Manchester United in the return leg of their Europa League tie.

Nicholas thinks that United manager Jose Mourinho will have one eye on Sunday's EFL Cup final against Southampton and will rest a number of key players in France.

The Sky Sports pundit is backing the French side to pick a 1-0 home win – a result that will ensure United's qualification to the next round with a 3-1 aggregate win.

He said: "The job is done with a 3-0 win at Old Trafford, even though they didn't play well that well in the first leg.

"I've been to St Etienne a few times as a fan and while they don't get huge numbers, it's quite a hostile stadium to go into.

"With the cup final coming up at the weekend, Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be rested.

"I think Jose Mourinho will still go with a strong backline though, to ensure they've got a solid base."
