Man Utd want £40M Villa deal struck before World Cup
Manchester United want to close a deal for Valencia ace David Villa before the World Cup.
The People says United have had the Spain star watched in EVERY Valencia game this season, and are ready to steal a march on their rivals.
Sir Alex Ferguson's brother Martin, United's leading scout, has been on many of the spying missions - including the 4-4 Europa Cup draw at Werder Bremen last week when Villa scored a hat-trick to put Valencia into the last eight.
It's believed that the 28-year-old, who will cost £40million, will finally leave Valencia this season - and every major club in Europe is ready to bid for him.
But Villa is impressed by United's brand of attacking football and Old Trafford would be his preferred choice if he comes to the Premier League .

Villa may be good, but you don't pay that kind of money for a guy nudging 30 - it doesn't represent good value, either in terms of seeing out his contract for the remaining 3 -4 years he has to offer as a top flight player , or in resale value if the team decides to move him on towards the last year or so of his contract. It's also worth bearing in mind that United have instituted a policy under the Glazers that Fergie isn't to pay over the odds for players in their late 20's - it was instituted after Fergie snapped up Berbatov for a record amount of money.
Live ur dream FT9, instead of getting Villa to partner Torres, Torres will leave ur team for good when the season ends. He'll jump out of the sinking ship to save his life and joined ur rivals who will guarantee him Champions League football every year. Villa is desperate to leave Valencia to play 4 team plying trade in Champions league.
If Saf, really wants him then i can honestly see David Villa joining Man Utd before this summers world cup ? But i don't belive Fergie would pay £40m for a 28 yr old, i think if any deal happens it would be for around £30/32m on a 4 yr contract. I belive that would definetly be worth it cos, Villa has a fine 3/4 top years left in him yet! You can talk about Benzema and Aguero, but they come no where near David Villa who has proved himself to be the top striker time and time again in La liga and at Spain's European cup sucess! plz Fergie buy him he and Rooney will rule !!!
