Ryan Giggs admits Manchester United let themselves down at Bayern Munich.

United lost the first-leg of their Champions League quarterfinal 2-1, despite taking an early lead.

"Usually you would take an early goal, but it can work against you," Giggs told manutd.com. "We would usually try and catch the opposition on the counter attack but we didn't keep the ball anywhere near as well as we are capable of.

"We didn't play well and gave the ball away far too cheaply, but you have to give credit to Bayern who made it very difficult for us."
