Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand feels his career has benefited from taking ballet lessons as a kid.
He took up yoga three years ago to give him better longevity, inspired by team-mate Ryan Giggs. But ballet lessons as a kid also set him up for a long career.
Ferdinand told the People: "With the ballet, at the start it was just about getting off my estate and going to meet new girls.
"I would travel 45 minutes on a bus to get there. I didn't tell my mates because they would have hammered me. But I enjoyed it and I went two or three times a week.
"Eventually I had to make a decision on what I wanted to do and I chose football - but ballet paid off in a lot of respects.
"With balance and being supple it helped, so I am thankful I went to a ballet school."
