Man Utd to trigger clause in Solskjaer Molde contract

Manchester United are expected to name Molde coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as new manager.

The Mirror reports Solskjaer is the man United have turned to in a bid to save their season after the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

He is understood to have a clause in his newly-signed contract that allows him to leave for United.

Solskjaer is set to return to Molde at the end of the Premier League season, but his first game in the United dugout will be on Saturday at Cardiff, the club he left after an ill-fated nine-month spell in charge in 2014, after they were relegated from the Premier League under him.

United have held talks with Solskjaer and his representatives and are confident of announcing him as their caretaker boss until the end of the season - assisted by former No 2 Mike Phelan - with Pochettino the man they want to appoint next summer as their permanent manager.
