Manchester United are prepared to hand Victor Valdes a free transfer.
AS says United will not renew Valdes' contract and will let the Spaniard leave on a free.
The former Barcelona star has returned to United after his loan spell at Standard Liege was cancelled on Friday.
Valdes' contract expires on June 30 but United had an option to extend it for 12 months. However, they have decided not to activate the clause.
Valdes was exiled by Van Gaal after allegedly refusing to play for the Under-21 side last season. Espanyol want to take the 34-year-old back to Spain.
