Man Utd title bid could be rocked by 4-match Vidic ban

Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic could be hit by a four-match ban.

The Mirror says Vidic is facing a trial by TV and a potential four-game ban that could wreck Manchester United's title challenge.

Vidic caught Johan Elmander with a flailing arm, leaving the Bolton striker needing four stitches to a head wound, in United's 4-0 win at the Reebok Stadium.

Although referee Martin Atkinson missed the incident, United defender Vidic could be in trouble if the FA decided to take retrospective action and punish him.

If charged with violent conduct, Vidic would be handed an extra game on top of the mandatory three-match ban, having already been sent off this season at Liverpool.
