Manchester United are looking for a new European club to affiliate with.
The Daily Record reports that the Red Devils are seeking a club on the continent's mainland to work closely with as they once did with Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp.
The likes of Darron Gibson, Jonny Evans, John O'Shea, Fraizer Campbell, Luke Chadwick and Danny Simpson all spent time on loan with Antwerp before playing for the United senior side.
Just as Chelsea currently have with Dutch Eredivisie club Vitesse Arnhem, United want a partnership with an existing European club that will see them send promising youngsters out on loan to develop their game in a first-team environment.
However, there are also suggestions that United are looking into the ownership of a small club.
The report indicates that the Old Trafford outfit are considering candidates Belgium, France, Portugal and Holland.
