The Sunday Mirror says Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant Carlos Queiroz watched Sporting's 1-1 draw with Bolton on Thursday night.

It is believed he was checking on the progress of Sporting starlet Pereirinha as well as long-standing United target Veloso.

Defensive midfielder Veloso has long been linked with the Old Trafford club, but Pereirinha has only recently come to Ferguson's attention.
