Oscar Borg has signed a two-year scholarship deal with West Ham United.
The talented wing-back, who has drawn comparisons with Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, spent the preseason with Manchester United.
United were keen to sign Borg, but could not agree compensation with West Ham.
Borg, tribalfootball.com understands, had offers to test with Manchester City, Everton, Aston Villa, Southampton, Crystal Palace, Hull City, Leicester City, Fulham, Bournemouth and several clubs on the continent.
But he was happy to pen a two-year deal with the Hammers and kicked off his pro career last week.
The presence of new Hammers academy chief Terry Westley was a big factor in Borg's decision.
