Speculation regarding the future of Victor Lindelof has further intensified after he was once again left out of Benfica's match day squad.
Manchester United have widely been linked with a £35million move for Lindelof in recent weeks and there is widespread belief that the transfer could take place in the coming weeks of the January transfer window.
To further fuel the rumours, Lindelof was omitted from the Benfica squad for their League Cup (Taça de Lima) clash against LigaPro side Vizela at home on Tuesday night and it is the second game running that the Swedish international has been excluded by manager Rui Vitoria.
It was understood that United boss Jose Mourinho had cooled this interest in 22-year-old Lindelof after Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo had impressed at centre-back but reports in Portugal indicate that Benfica have been given no reason to suggest the Red Devils had ended their pursuit of the former Vasteras defender.
