Nathaniel Clyne has returned to new contract talks with Southampton.
The Manchester Evening News says the club's executive director Les Reed hopes to convince the England right back that his future remains at St Mary's, despite Louis van Gaal's plans to lure him to Manchester United this summer.
Southampton have been encouraged by Clyne's willingness to enter negotiations, as well as his comments last week, claiming he was happy on the south coast.
Jay Rodriguez' decision to sign a new contract until 2019 has also provided hope that Clyne will follow suit.
