Leighton Baines is ready to pen a new deal with Everton - should Manchester United fail to meet his club's asking price.

The People says United are expected to table a second, take-it-or-leave-it bid for the England left-back this week.

David Moyes wants to be reunited with his former Everton star and United offered around £10million for the player last month.

United are unwilling to pay more than £12m for the defender who turns 29 in December and would have no great resale value.

New Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is adamant Everton do not want to sell and it is believed that Goodison chairman Bill Kenwright is only prepared to let him go for £18m.
