Toby Alderweireld has told Tottenham fans he never pushed to leave over the summer.

While in contract dispute with Spurs, the defender was linked with Manchester United during the offseason.

But before their clash with Iceland, Alderweireld said: "The whole world knows their value and this match does not reflect it, it's a difficult team to beat at home, in front of its supporters, they've already defeated big nationals, the Nations League is a new opportunity for everyone to win something important.

"Tottenham? They said I wanted to leave, all wrong, it's not true, I want to help the club do something important, and what was written about me in the summer did not correspond to the truth."
