Man Utd striker Welbeck still weighing up international future

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck will not rule out switching international allegiances.

Welbeck, who is a definite starter for Stuart Pearce's side in the European Championship this summer, could yet turn his back on England and play for Ghana, although on current form he looks certain to fulfil Sir Alex Ferguson's prediction that he will soon break into Fabio Capello's full squad.

Welbeck told the Daily Express: "My mum and dad are from Ghana so I am eligible to play for both countries. I spoke briefly to a guy from the Ghana FA when he came to a Sunderland game to watch John Mensah, Asamoah Gyan and Sulley Muntari but that's all it is.

"The other lads have been going on about it but I'm very proud to wear the England shirt."
