Man Utd striker Welbeck promises goals for Preston

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck is happy with his loan move to Preston North End.

Welbeck agreed a deal on Monday to keep him at Deepdale until the summer and he was pleased to be here.

He told the Preston website: "I'm delighted to make the move. I felt it was the right time in my career to get more games under my belt and I think Preston will definitely be the right place for me.

"People will always talk about the link between the Gaffer and his son, but I have just come here to play my football and I am hoping to give 100 per cent for Preston North End.

"I have been looking at the history of the Club and Manchester United and Preston North End link well together and I am looking forward to playing for the club."

The 19-year-old England U21 starlet is hoping to get a regular starting berth in attack for the Lilywhites and use the chance to score goals: "I am looking forward to playing up front as a striker, because back at United I was out on the wings a lot and that is not my preferred position; playing as a striker at Preston is going to improve me and off the pitch as a person it will develop me.

"I'm a player that wants to score goals and wants to play the game in the right way. I have been at United since I was nine, so it is a bit different coming away, but it only going to make me stronger and a better player and I am looking forward to it."
