Man Utd striker Welbeck: Preston boss Ferguson will make me better

Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck is delighted with his form at Preston North End.

Welbeck played a big part in both North End goals and he was delighted with the three points from the Sheffield United victory.

"It's not all about getting the goals just for myself, I'd rather the team win as we did tonight," Welbeck told Preston's website.

"It was good to get back to winning ways, to get the three points and put in a performance like that, it's what we were all looking for and now we are just looking forward to the next game. I think the start we made gave us the momentum throughout the game. When they got the goal near the end the last ten minutes was a bit of a struggle but we all held out and we battled to our best.

"I'm just looking forward to working hard, getting games under my belt and playing football."

The Manchester United starlet paid tribute to the Club's management and coaching staff and revealed that he is getting a double dose of Ferguson advice with Ferguson Snr and Jnr both giving him pointers as to what he is doing right and wrong during matches.

He said: "Darren's a good manager and we've got good coaches behind us and we are just getting together and gelling as a team and working well with the coaches - it looks like it paid off tonight.

"Darren's turning me into a more penetrative player, I'm looking in behind a lot more than I did at Manchester United, at United it was a bit more tippy-tappy football, coming in and dropping off and everything but at Preston I am a lot more effective going in behind and that's what's been drilled into my head.

"I've spoken to my other Gaffer after the games and we just talk about with reference to what I need to improve on and what I did well, it's good to get feedback from everyone."
