The Mail on Sunday says despite having been a regular in Roy Hodgson's England squad over the past couple of years, the 23-year-old Manchester United striker is facing the axe for the World Cup in Brazil.
England coach Roy Hodgson has hinted he is still prepared to wait to see if West Ham United striker Andy Carroll strings sufficient games and goals together to warrant inclusion.
If Carroll does, then Welbeck is likely to be the striker who makes way.
