Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney took on extra training after England's session yesterday.
The Daily Mail says Rooney stayed for extra shooting practice after training on Monday as he attempts to convince Roy Hodgson to start him up front against Uruguay.
The England forward has never scored at a World Cup and drew another blank in Saturday's 2-1 defeat by Italy in their opening Group D game in Manaus.
Rooney is desperate to prove he is the man to fire England to victory against Uruguay and at one point on Monday he was seen in deep discussion with coach Roy Hodgson, who had his arm round the striker's shoulders.
