Man Utd striker Rooney spends break in The Algarve

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has spent the international break in Portugal.

The Daily Mail says a gashed forehead ruled out the 27-year-old from the qualifying games against Moldova and Ukraine so Rooney has been taking it easy with wife Coleen and one of his children on the Anco Nascente sands in Quinta do Lago.

Rooney has been wearing a baseball cap to protect his wound from the Mediterranean sun while his family stay at the luxurious five-star Conrad hotel.

The Manchester United striker suffered the three-inch cut in a training ground collision with team-mate Phil Jones on September 7 and cannot risk contact until the stitches come out.
