Man Utd striker Rooney desperate for FA Cup success

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is desperate to win a first FA Cup.

Rooney has suffered defeat in two FA Cup finals against Arsenal and Chelsea and he is hoping for better luck this time around.

"It's the only club trophy that I haven't won and it bothers me a little bit," said Rooney.

"I used to watch the FA Cup growing up and I was lucky enough to go to the final at the old Wembley in 1995 when Everton won it. That was my best day as a fan.

''As a player, I've been to two finals with Man United and lost them both. We should have won the Arsenal one. We battered them but couldn't score and then lost on penalties.

"We also lost to Chelsea in extra-time in the other one so I'm gutted I haven't won it but hopefully I'll get another chance to do that."

Rooney has admitted he has avoided his England pal Steven Gerrard in discussing the tie - in case United lose.

He said: "I haven't spoken to Steven. I never really speak to any opposition players before a game because you don't want to say much in case you lose! It's a game everybody's waiting for."
