Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is ready to hand England coach Roy Hodgson a World Cup boost.
The England and Manchester United talisman has been nursing a nagging groin problem in recent weeks that forced him to miss Saturday's shock home defeat to Sunderland.
It led to fears the 28-year-old might have to undergo an operation that would cast huge doubts over his participation in Brazil next month.
But Rooney, who was also struck down with a stomach bug last week, came through a light training session unscathed on Saturday morning and is expected to play again before the end of the season, says the Daily Star.
Rooney could even return tomorrow when Hull visit Old Trafford and the news is a huge boost for Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson.
