Man Utd striker Owen furious over Newcastle jeers

Manchester United striker Michael Owen was unhappy with the jeers from Newcastle United fans yesterday.

While the majority of Newcastle fans continue to hold that against the former England international, Owen hit back at the boo-boys saying they did not know "all the facts".

"Knew I would get booed as that's what a lot of fans do but if they knew the facts then they may have a different opin[ion]," he posted on social networking site Twitter.

"From a personal point of view it was nice to get on. Got a poor reception off the home fans which was disappointing. Was desperate to score!"

Some Newcastle fans responded to Owen's posts with more criticism but the striker insisted he always gave his best for the club.

"Disappointing result but credit to Newcastle, they played well and put us under plenty of pressure especially in the first half an hour."
