Manchester United striker Kiko Macheda was again restricted to a bench role by Sampdoria coach Mimmo di Carlo for their defeat to Lazio.
On 71 minutes, Macheda came off the bench to play against his beloved hometown club, having grown up in the Lazio youth academy before he was poached by Manchester United.
But the Italy U21 striker had little impact on the proceedings.
Instead, it was Lazio's super-sub Libor Kozak who nodded home the only goal of the game seven minutes from time.
Macheda is yet to start a game for Samp, which may be a concern for United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
