Zlatan Ibrahimovic says Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney deserves greater respect.

Rooney looks certain to head for pastures new in the summer and team-mate Ibrahimovic reckons the England skipper isn't fully appreciated on these shores.

Ibrahimovic, a genuine world class superstar striker if ever there was one, said: “It's a big thing you know - many great players have been here at this club and his name is right up on top.

“I'm very proud to have been on the same field as him when he did it and hopefully he can continue to do what he's doing.

“He's a complete player. Everybody knows what Wayne is. But this country has to appreciate him. I don't see any other strikers like him today."
