Roy Hodgson is prepared to play Marcus Rashford ahead of Daniel Sturridge on Friday.
The Sun is reporting that the England boss is unhappy about the current fitness state of the Liverpool striker who reported to the team hotel on Tuesday complaining of a calf injury.
It is understood that Hodgson and the Three Lions coaching staff are concerned about Sturridge, who trained inside at Manchester City's academy, while the rest of the squad were outside in the rain.
Hodgson is set to hand Manchester United teenager Rashford his international debut against Australia at the Stadium of Light on Friday night as Sturridge's ongoing niggling injury problem strikes again.
Reports suggest that Sturridge, 26, is vulnerable to losing his place in the final 23 with Rashford a genuine chance of joining Tottenham's Harry Kane, Leicester City's Jamie Vardy and United teammate Wayne Rooney in the England strike force for Euro2016.
