Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is joining the battle for PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Afellay.

Afellay has already declared he wants to play for United or Liverpool and comes off contract at PSV in June.

PSV have announced they intend to sell Afellay in January and Ferguson is ready to compete with Liverpool and Arsenal for the Holland international.
