Former Motherwell defender Mitchell van der Gaag has likened Ricky van Wolfswinkel to Mario Jardel.

The Sporting Lisbon striker was watched by Manchester United and Manchester City on Monday night against Benfica - and hit the winner. Tottenham have also made enquiries about the Dutchman.

"He is often compared with the legendary Mario Jardel. He's just had a rough stretch, since he was not scoring, but he is always supported by media and fans," he told Voetbal International.
